Laurie is a wife and mother of two young, energetic boys and a late dog named Piper. She’s worked as a book editor for the past decade, thoroughly enjoying reading all day for her job! She’s written content for small businesses and edited several books for one of the fastest-growing independent publishing companies in the United States, with hundreds of books distributed nationally and internationally each year.
In her spare time, Laurie takes great pleasure in hiking, swimming, reading novels, taking her kids to the library, and loads of Irish dancing. Laurie lived in Japan for a time and speaks Japanese.
When Laurie was a boppin’ pre-teen, she watched the movie Willow with her family one night. As the ending credits rolled, Laurie was inspired to write a story of her own. Immediately, she ran to the family computer and started to compose a story that would never see that light of day. (It was that bad, and she would never subject the public to suffering through it.) Since then, Laurie wrote short stories and read as much as she could to study the craft, learning from the classic greats to modern writers.
Starlight started with a dream Laurie had in college about two girls running through the field with their dog. The dog was since cut from the story (though he insisted on making an appearance in the upcoming sequel), but the story of the two sisters grew into what is now Starlight, a fantasy novel narrated from the perspective of both sisters.
If you enjoy a story that encourages never to give up on family, that love has real power, and the fight between light and a seemingly incurable darkness, you will love Starlight.
